NOTTINGHAMSHIRE

A county of the East Midlands, the fine County City of Nottingham is by far the largest town, lying towards the South of  the pear-drop shaped County.  Like many others in Britain, there is much variety here.  Heavy industry has made its mark in important towns such as Mansfield, but there are plenty of pastoral areas – most of Robin Hood’s Sherwood Forest is still there to be enjoyed, but today without the fear of outlaws.
The River Trent flows through the County from south to north, forming in the northeast the border with Lincolnshire, and is still an important commercial waterway.   Nottingham itself is famous for its lace, and there are literary associations at Newstead Abbey, home of Lord Byron.

Girls’ Chess in Nottinghamshire
There is no shortage of girls playing chess in the County, so if any would-be manager wants to get into touch with us, we will give as much help as possible.
