YORKSHIRE

Yorkshire is in area by far the largest of all the British Counties.  Within its vast area you can find every conceivable type of countryside as well as, in places, heavy industry.   The Yorkshire economy is by itself larger than that of many small nations of the world.  Yorkshiremen and women are justly very proud of their County, and will admit of none other equal.

Girls’ Chess in Yorkshire

Mr John Hipshon of Alcuin School in Leeds is the girls’ organiser, and he’s built an excellent team that, in 2006, won the ECGCF Grand Cup, (the first time any other County than Surrey has won it).  Mr Hipshon’s daughter Amanda is a very good player, they also have Kiruthika Rajeswaran of Wakefield, and (much younger) Elizabeth Coupe of Rotherham.
