Terence Chapman Group Prixette - Final Results for 2001
Leonard Barden writes:Teresa Khoo has been pipped at the post for the second year
running. England No 1 Harriet Hunt was joint winner with 4/5 at this weeks's Coulsdon Open, and
advanced her Prixette total to a winning 76.8/100 against Teresa's 75.3. Harriet, previously
Prixette champion in 1995, wins £500. Teresa is awarded £250 as runner-up.
Otherwise the final Prixette weekend of 2001 saw several notable performances by Surrey girls.
Teresa's own 3½/6 in the London Open, though not improving her Prixette total, was a fine result
in strong company. Selina Khoo's 2/6 in the same Open included a draw with 193-graded Mark Lyell
who in the previous round had drawn with GM Keith Arkell. Anna Partington's 4½/6 in the Coulsdon
U170 boosted her Prixette score to clear third place, while Sarah Hegarty, last year's Prixette
champion, was Top Girl with 4/6 in the London U14 Championship.
The U12 Prixette proved a
close run race where Lancashire's Robyn Smith finished narrowly ahead of Staffordshire's Molly
Moruzzi and Oxfordshire's Naomi Miller.
