British National Rapidplay Championships, Bradford 20-21 October 2001

Girl players achieved some good results at this event.
The Adult sections stretched over two days with 11 rounds, and in the Intermediate (U136) section, Sabrina Chevannes [Warwickshire] and Suzie Blackburn [Cheshire] were joint second each with 8/11. Even better was the result of Katie A Martin [Lancashire], the clear winner of the Minor section with 9/11. I understand that Katie received a substantial prize which will no doubt help to defray her expenses in travelling to and entering for so many tournaments. In the same section, another Lancashire girl Robyn Smith was joint fourth with 8/11.
The Junior event was confined to one day's play with only six rounds. In the U12, Sarah Robinson [Cheshire] was joint third with 4½/6, and Eleanor Hayden [Sussex] had 3½/6. In the U11, Hannah Dale [Surrey] and Victoria Crompton [Cheshire] each had 4½/6 for joint third, and in the U10, Katie Hale [Somerset] had 3½.
